Vic: CFA advise of restrictions on lighting fires

Fire-lighting restrictions will come into force in large areas of Victoria from Monday.

The Country Fire Authority restrictions mean it will be illegal to light fires in open
places without a permit.

They will apply in northern Victoria from Monday, while restrictions for the state's
north east will be enforced the following Monday.

The restrictions don't apply to barbecues or fires in properly constructed fire places.

A CFA spokesman says the restrictions will remain until May 1 next year.
