Fed: Brother in law of Fischer in running for federal seat
The brother-in-law of former National Party leader TIM FISCHER is standing for party
pre-selection in a Victorian federal electorate.
HENRY BREWER, a farmer from the north-eastern village of Mudgegonga, is one of three
people to stand for pre-selection in the seat of Indi.
He'll join Indigo Shire mayor DON CHAMBERS and Wangaratta businesswoman WENDY MITCHELL
in the pre-selection ballot set down for February 17.
Pre-selection nominations closed at midday today.
Indi, which borders Mr FISCHER'S electorate of Farrer, is currently held by the Liberal
Party's LOU LIEBERMAN.
He'll retire at this year's election, with well-known monarchist SOPHIE PANOPOULOS
chosen to stand for the Liberal Party.
But local National Party members believe Ms PANOPOULOS' selection -- which upset Indi
Liberals -- has opened the door for them to win the seat.
