NSW: More than 1,000 gather for Timor parade

More than 1,000 uniformed men and women who served in East Timor's peacekeeping mission
have gathered at First Fleet park in Sydney to prepare for their welcome home march through
the city.

The troops representing the Army, Navy and Airforce began arriving shortly after 11am (AEST).

It will be the first time the Australian contingent has gathered together since they
arrived home.

The march is due to kick off at 12.30pm (AEST) led by Major-General PETER COSGROVE,
ending at Town Hall where a reception will be held.

Onlookers have started to line George Street.
