SA: SA attorney general to quit politics at next election

ADELAIDE, Dec 1 AAP - South Australian Attorney-General Trevor Griffin today announced
he would not seek preselection for the next election.

Mr Griffin said the decision was made for personal reasons, based on the fact he would
be 61 when the election is due, in March 2002.

"This is a purely personal decision arrived at after consultation with my very supportive
family," Mr Griffin said in a statement.

"I am confident that (Premier) John Olsen and the Liberal Party can win the next election
and I will be doing all I can to ensure that outcome."

Mr Griffin has been a member of the state legislative council for 24 years, including
a total of 11 years as Attorney-General.

Liberal Party nominations for the legislative council close on December 6.
